the roots of our planet

let nature manifest itself, reveal its majestic strength and beauty.
Deforestation occurs when the felling of trees exceeds their rate of regrowth and the tree population is reduced.
Over the past 30 years, the world's forest area has been reduced by more than 420 million hectares, at a rate of about 4.7 million hectares per year since 2010.
If numbers are not enough, here are 4 reasons to safeguard our forests:
1. Fighting climate change
The food system is responsible for a quarter of all greenhouse gas emissions contributing to climate change. About 80% of global deforestation is caused by industrial agricultural production. If we want to avoid temperatures rising by more than 1.5 degrees, we must demand protection for what is left of the forests.
2. Ensuring the survival of indigenous peoples
According to the United Nations, 300 million people live in forests and 1.6 billion depend on them for their livelihoods.
All over the world, the rights of Indigenous Peoples have been violated in the name of development that has only one criterion: economic profit. Indigenous Peoples are subjected to intimidation and violence because they are in the front line of forest protection and often find themselves alone in this battle.
3. Protecting plants, animals, insects
Did you know that one-third of our food comes directly from insect pollination? Leaving their home intact is a move that can create great benefits for us, or at least not cause us further damage.
4. Living longer and healthier
According to FAO, one in nine people suffers from hunger because they do not have enough food. Yet about 26% of the earth's surface has been converted into pastures for animals destined for slaughter, and around one billion tonnes of cereals are used annually as feed. With this same amount of grain, we could feed 3.5 billion people, helping to improve the balance between natural ecosystems (such as forests) and land for agricultural production.
let nature flourish, sometimes it all starts with small things, such as a single tree free to grow
nomadoo commitment against deforestation. Take a look!
